
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Winslow girls made a huge statement on Friday afternoon by burning up the track in two championship races at the 130th Penn Relays at historic Franklin Field.
The foursome of Amariah Arango, Cinniya Robinson, Olivia Okaro, Jasmine Jackson teamed up to win the Northeast 4x100m Championship in an event record 46.39, No. 9 in NJ history, and three hours later that same quartet returned to the track and completed a sensational sprint double by placing fifth in the 4x400 Championhip of America race!!
In the 4x100, Winslow rallied to edge Union Catholic (second in 46.76) and smashed the event record of 47.12 that J.P. McCaskey of Pa. ran last year. In the 4x400, Winslow splits were a combined 1:50.44 for Arango and Robinson, 55.92 or Okaro, and 54.82 for Robinson. They ran a time of 3:41.17.
Jackson said that Winslow came here with something to prove.
"If they didn't know who we were before, everyone knows who were are now,'' said Jackson.
Jackson said the 4x100/4x400 double was tough, but they never considered no running both.
"We made both finals, so we ran both finals,'' said Jackson. "It was tough and took a lot of us, but there was no way we weren't coming back in the 4x400. We are all tough and worked so hard for this and we gave it everything we had and are proud of what we did.''
