NJ Flashes From New Balance Games

Some New Balance highlights picked up along the way;

* Najeee Glass (St. Peter's Prep) breaks NR for 500 meters with a 1:02.22. The mark has been disallowed folowing a review of video taken that shows various lane infractions committed by Glass

* Super Frosh Olivia Baker of Columbia win the Girls Invitational 500m in 1:13.51 (US #1)Olivia's time is #2 all-time New Jersey behind only Janine Davis' 1:12.99 from 2005. It's also a new school record which doesn't sound like much but when your school record was held by Hazel Clark at 1:14.35, well...

*Much to coach Lisa Morgan's surprise, Columbia girls won the team championship.  Lisa told NJR "I had no idea that we were even close to winning the meet.  I didn't even think about it when were coming to the Armory because we didn't have Kayann (Richards, Columbia's mult-talented start who is recovering from a slight injury but is not yet ready to go)".

*Neptune blasts a US #1 4:00.33 sprint medley, winning by almost 3 seconds.  The performance is a New Jersey state record, bettering the previous mark of 4:01.41 sset by Willingboro in 2003.  Ajee Wilson anchored in 2:08.0.

* RBC star Molly McNamara Qs for Millrose with a 4:57.29 2nd place in Girls Invitational Mile.  As it turns out, because today's race was slower than the race at the Millrose Trials on January 13, Molly would have qualified even if she had not outleaned Brianna Nerud of North Shore (3rd in 4:57.45) because the 4:54.79 that Molly ran in the Trials was the fastest non-auto qualifer.

* Oregon bound Jeramy Elkaim (Livingston) also gets second  in 4:15.05 and a trip to Millrose

* Soph Ben Malone, 4th on the invitational mile at 4:16.56 ran the 8th fastest time in Bergen County history (thanks to Paul Schwatrz for that tidbit)

* Jon Brinkerhoff of Veritas Christian get 3rd in PV with jump of 13'6"

* Hunterdon Central takes Girls PV Relay with 21' / Morris Hills 2nd (17' 6")

* Nia Barnes (38' 9") leads West Orange to SP Relay title. Sydney Grimes backs her up with a toss of 33' 8.75"

* Newark Tech runs 34.54 to take 3rd in the SHR

* Hunterdon Central runs a 9:22.65 in 2nd place effort
