This week's Boys NJRunners.com Athlete of the Week is none other than Ed Cheskerek.  Cheskerek does nothing but break course records.  This past Saturday he was in action at the NJCTC Championships at Warinaco park where he dropped nearly 10 seconds off of the course record that had stood since before Cheserek was born (Mike Mykytok, Bound Brook, 1988, 15:28).  The course is 5250 meters or 3.25 miles.  Cheserek at 16 years old is just a sophomore and one can only imagine what will happen as he progresses. Cheserek is likely to have a week or so off as St. Benedict's Prep does not participate in the NJSIAA State Championships.  He is scheduled to run in the NXN NE Championships at Bowdoin Park, Wappingers Falls, NY.  In that race we will finally get to see the showdown of the year.  Cheserek vs. Rosa.  Will you be there?

Honorable Mention
Jim Rosa, West Windsor-Plainsboro North

Caroline Kellner (West Windsor-Plainsboro South) has been selected as this weeks NJRunnres.com girls athlete of the week after winning her 2nd consecutive NJSIAA Central Jersey Group IV Championship that was held at Thompson Park.  Kellner traversed the course in 18:02 twenty seconds better than 2nd place at it was 12 seconds faster than her win a year ago.  Kellner is the reigning Group IV champion from 2009 but is going to have her hands full as Megan Lacy (Cherokee) has been running extremely well all season long.

Honorable Mention
Alyssa LaGuardia, Depaul Catholic
Megan Lacy, Cherokee
Samantha Jones, Randolph
