BRONX, NY – The NJIT women's cross country team competed at the Fordham Fiasco at Van Cortlandt Park Saturday afternoon.

The NJIT women placed seventh out of 18 teams led by sophomore Ewelina Marut.  Marut, the top finisher for NJIT, completed the 5k race 20^th with a time of 19:46.43.

Freshman Breanne Hollenbach was the next Highlander to cross the finish line 34^th at 20:22.59.  Classmate Catherine Cohen was 50^th with a time of 20:51.46.

Other competitors for the NJIT women were: Megan Higgins (66^th, 21:29.84), Amanda Hefferan (76^th, 21:44.78), Kelsey Johnson (81^st, 21:48.79), Vincia Jackson (101^st, 22:08.64), Ybranhina Cohen, Kelsey Jackson, Daisy Gallegos, Catherine Karnas and Christina Roque.

Fordham's Kerri Gallagher captured the title in a time of 18:17.64.

The Highlanders will prepare for the NJIT Classic on September 19.  Saint Peter's, Long Island and St. Francis (NY) will participate at the Classic.
