BC Breaks Another NJ Record, Runs U.S. No. 7 All-Time In 4x4

Bergen Catholic put an exclamation point on the fastest sprint relay double in New Jersey history when the Crusaders blew up the oval by shattering its second NJ record of the weekend and running one of the quickest times in U.S. history in the 4x400-meter relay at the New Balance National Championships on Sunday at The TRACK at New Balance in Boston.

Bergen Catholic left lots of smoke on the track when it dropped a sizzling 3:13.79 to finish third the 4x400, which broke the New Jersey indoor record and moved them all they way to No. 7 on the all-time high school indoor list!!!! BC's 3:13.79 broke the NJ record of 3:14.35 set by Toms River North when it placed second at the New Balance National Championships last March.

The race was won by Bullis of Maryland in a US No. 2 all-time 3:09.62. Archbishop Carroll of Washington, D.C. was second in 3:10.01.

The third-place finish by BC avenged its loss to Bergen County rival Hackensack at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions last Sunday at Ocean Breeze when Hackensack finished first in 3:16.95 and Bergen Catholic was second in 3:17.43. Hackensack was fifth on Sunday in 3:15.60.

BC's splits were 49.88 by senior Thomas McAnulty, 48.62 by sophomore Amiir Woodward, 48.22 by senior Jan Siek, and 47.09 by Adrian Woodward!!!

Bergen Catholic began its record smashing party when the Crusaders broke its own NJ record in the 4x200 when they burned a U.S. No. 6 all-time 1:25.58 in the preliminary round to qualify for Saturday's final. BC erased the state record of 1:26.24 that it ran last month at the Millrose Games. Unfortunatley, BC got DQ'd in the 4x200 final, but they bounced back on Sunday to complete an epic double!!!!

BC's 4x200 lineup consisted of Amiir Woodward, junior Bryan Porter, McAnulty, and Adrian Woodward. Adrian Woodward also ripped a Bergen County record 21.29 in the preliminary round of the 200m dash.
