Day Two of GWC Outdoor T&F Championships

Day Two Results 


YANKTON, SD
-- NJIT had five different athletes finish in the top 10 of their respective events after day two of the 2010 Great West Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships concluded at Williams Field.

 

Junior weight thrower Josh Dolisca, who placed second in the men's hammer throw Thursday for NJIT, took fifth in the men's shot put and ninth in the men's discus throw.  In the men's shot put, Dolisca recorded a distance of 15.21m while in the discus throw he set a new school record with a distance of 40.80m.

 

Freshman jumper Xavier Lee took ninth in the men's long jump with a distance of 6.30m, setting a new personal best and finished tenth in the men's high jump with a mark of 1.85m.

 

Hurdler Jonathan Nunez finished eighth in the preliminaries of the men's 110 meter hurdles at 16.06 setting a personal best, qualifying for the finals on Saturday while sophomore Joe Ju added a ninth place finish in the men's 3000 meter steeplechase. 

 

Middle distance runner Michael Gurlacz took ninth in the men's preliminaries of the 800 meter dash just missing the qualifying time with a time of 1:55.97, setting a new school record.

 

Men's standings entering the final day of competition are 1) Utah Valley, 81.50 pts.;  2) Houston Baptist, 76 pts. ;  3) South Dakota, 44.50pts.;  4) North Dakota, 36 pts.;  5) NJIT,  26 pts.;  6) Texas-Pan American, 25 pts.;  7) Chicago State, 16 pts.;  8) Seattle University,  7 pts.

 

The final day of the GWC Outdoor Championships will begin Saturday at 10 a.m. (CT).
