Every time Blair Bartlett steps on the track there is a great chance she will do something that just blows our minds.
It happened again on Saturday when the indefatigable junior from Lawrenceville threw down one of the fastest mile times in U.S. high school history when she stopped the clock at 4:34.55 to finish first at The CIRCUIT meet at the Ott Center in Philadelphia.
Bartlett's time is the fastest high school time in the country this season, it elevates her all the way up to No. 5 on the girls' all-time U.S. high school indoor list, and it knocked more than five seconds off the NJ record of 4:39.73 that she ran at the 118th Millrose Games at the New York Armory on Feb. 1. It's also faster than several conference winning times at the Division 1 level, including the Big East Championships where Georgetown's Charlotte Tomkinson won the women's mile in a meet record 4:34.77.
Bartlett is having a season for the ages!!!
In her previous race, Bartlett blasted an eye-popping 9:44.34 in the 3,200 at The CIRCUIT meet on Feb. 14 at the NY Armory, which is No. 3 on the all-time U.S. high school indoor list. The only runners ahead of her are Cain (9:38.68 in 2014), and Elizabeth Leachman of Boerne Champion in Texas (9:44.16 in 2024). Hedengren ran 9:37.50 for 3,200 last yerar, which converts to 9:40.85 for 2 miles.
