Baumbach Named Great West Conference Track and Field Player of the Week

Christian Baumbach shares GWC POW honors with UVU's Allah Laryea-Akrong

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – NJIT's Christian Baumbach was named Great West Conference Track and Field Athlete of the week the conference office announced Wednesday.

Baumbach shares Player of the Week honors with Allah Laryea-Akrong from Utah Valley. Laryea-Akrong, a freshman, set a new school record in the men's 100 meter dash with a time of 10.42.

The 5-foot-10 sophomore from NJIT earned a pair of wins in the 5000 meter and 10000 meter races at the CTC Outdoor T&F Championships hosted by DeSales University.

Baumbach, who was named all-CTC, finished the 5k race at 15:20.48 and the 10k race crossing the finish line at 32:26.77 for NJIT.
