Track and Field Competes at CTC Championships

Sophomore Christian Baumbach

CENTER VALLEY, PA –
Sophomore Christian Baumbach recorded a pair of wins in the 5000 meter and 10000 meter races as NJIT finished sixth at the CTC Outdoor T&F Championships hosted by DeSales University.

 

 Baumbach, who was named all-CTC, finished the 5k race at 15:20.48 and the 10k race crossing the finish line at 32:26.77 for NJIT.

 

Highlander's Tim Esposito and Ruben Santos set school-records in the men's decathlon and 100 meter.  Esposito placed third in the decathlon with 4279 points and Santos finished third in the 100 meter with an 11.05 mark.  Both athletes were named to the all-CTC team.

 

Junior Josh Dolisca had a strong performance setting two school-records in the men's shot put and hammer throw.  Dolisca placed fourth in both events -- hammer throw (47.33m) and shot put (14.69m).

 

On the women's side, Ewelina Marut led the Highlanders shattering the 5000 meter and 10000 meter race school-records.  Marut finished in the top 5 in both events – 5000 meter (4th; 19:05.31) and 10000 meter (5th; 41:14.12).

 

Other outstanding performances turned in by the Highlanders were: Nicole Kerrison (heptathlon and long jump; Megan Higgins (1500 meter) and Kelsey Johnson (steeplechase).
