Some of New Jersey's biggest stars produced sizzling performances at the Millrose Games Trials on Wednesday night at the New York City Armory

Union Catholic Boys Burn US No. 1 4x400 Relay

The Union Catholic boys 4x400-meter relay squad threw down the fastest time in the nation on Wednesday night at the Millrose Games Trials at the New York City Armory.

The foursome of junior Shahid Stevens, junior Jalele Williams, senior Keandre Kelly and senior Ciaran Brosnan combined to run 3:18.54 in the Suburban Division to take over the national lead and qualify for the Millrose Games on Feb. 1 at the New York City Armory.

The splits for the Vikings were 49.92 for Stevens, 49.99 for Williams, 49.92 for Kelly, and 48.71 for Brosnan.


Watt Wins Boys Mile

Brody Watt of Bernards used his great late speed to take control of the boys mile as he dropped a 2:05 final 800 to win the mile in 4:16.57 to secure his spot in the Millrose Games.  

Watt, who is headed to the University of Pennsylvania and has run 4:14.63 for 1,600 this season, ran 27.6 for the final 200 to take over the lead and lock up the victory.


Winslow Girls Sweep Sprint Relays

Winslow, who won a pair of sprint relays, became the first NJ team to go under 3:50 when they led a 1-2 finish by South Jersey in the girls Suburban Division 4x400. 

Winslow's winning time of 3:49.68 is not only the No. 1 time in NJ this season, but it's also US No. 2 time!!! Winslow finished more than 10 seconds ahead of runner-up Willingboro, who ran 3:59.91. Winslow and Willingboro each qualified for the Milrose Games. 

The Winslow girls also crossed first in the 4x200 relay, stopping the clock at 1:40.93, just off the US No. 5 time of 1:40.48 that they ran at the Hispanic Games last Saturday on the same track. 

Woodstown Boys Win 4x800

The Woodstown boys locked up a berth in the Millrose Games by winning the 4x800 in a NJ No. 1/US No. 2  8:00.24. Senior Karson Chew led off with a 1:58.67 carry, senior Jacob Marino ran 2:02.11, junior David Farrell went 2:04.52, and then senior Joshua Crawford, threw down a huge 1:54.96 anchor leg to put an exclamation point on the wire-to-wire win for Woodstown!
