NEWARK, NJ – The NJIT women's cross country team has been honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as an All-Academic team for the 2009 season.

The Highlanders, under the direction of head coach Al Alonso, compiled a 3.06 team grade point average after the fall 2009 semester.

Four members of the women's cross country squad were named to the Fall 2009 Great West Conference all-Academic team -- Cara Constantino, Iulia Doci, Daisy Gallegos and Kelsey Johnson. 

For the team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Championship and also have a minimum 3.00 team cumulative GPA.
