Charlotte Bednar Moves Into US Top Five All-Time For HS 5K

On Saturday in Edison, New Jersey, during the GSTC Spring Opener, Charlotte Bednar blasted a 15:52.10 in a mixed 5K, lowering her own New Jersey state record and moving into the top five all-time nationally for high school girls.

Bednar is now one of just nine girls to run under 16 minutes outdoors in high school. She's also the second athlete this spring to go under 16 minutes in 2021, following Brynn Brown's performance of 15:56.89 at the Texas Distance Festival in March.

That impressive all-time list, led by Jenna Hutchins with her 15:34.47 from this past December, is followed by Mary Cain (15:45.46), Emily Sisson (15:48.91), and Cayla Hatton (15:50.32). Bednar is now No. 5 all-time at 15:52.10.

Bednar's previous PR was back in October when she ran a 16:21.67 at Icahn Stadium improving on her own state record then as well.
