Mulhern Takes 4th At East Coast XC Championships

Jenna Mulhern closed out her cross country season with a fourth place finish at the East Coast Championships, held Saturday at Holmdel Park in New Jersey.

The West Chester Henderson junior ran a time of 18:10 in the rain, mud, and wind at Holmdel as she faced a loaded field of regional talent. Mulhern was in good company in the top five.

Connecticut's Kate Wiser broke free and won the Gold Race in 17:25, the No. 3 all-time clocking on the famed NJ course. New Jersey star Charlotte Bednar was second in 17:46 and Connecticut's Sydney Masciarelli, the 2018 Foot Locker Nationals winner, was third in 18:10.

Saturdya's race closes out a strong fall for Mulhern. She ran a couple of quick 5Ks on the track, highlighted by a PA No. 3 all-time time of 16:33 on her home track. She was sixth at the PIAA State Championships, but struggled to finish in the home stretch in some intense heat.

She was looking to get another competitive XC race in and clocked her fastest XC 5K time of the year -- a 18:10 -- on a tough course in less-than-ideal conditions.
