INCREDIBLE: 9 Boys Break 22 In 200m At VA Beach Club Opener

This wild year is not over yet, people.

On Friday in Virginia Beach, Virginia, a truly insane feat was accomplished on the first weekend of indoor track and field action, as nine boys broke 22 seconds in the 200m at the Virginia Beach Club Opener at the newly opened Virginia Beach Sports Center.

With hundreds of athletes descending -- in cleverly orchestrated waves -- on the brand-new track, facility records were inevitable -- but this race offered some flat-out ridiculous performances.

Fairview's (CO) Gavin Schurr took top billing on Friday (above) as he posted an opening US No. 1 mark of 21.28 seconds, which is the second-fastest performance ever recorded in the month of December, only behind Brian Herron's time of 20.95 from Dec. 30, 2017.

But he wasn't alone.

Schurr's section produced four of the five fastest times on the night overall, with Eleanor Roosevelt's (MD) Laurenz Colbert following in 21.32, Fenton's (MI) Brandon Miller coming in 21.60 seconds and Woodbridge Freedom's (VA) Jaylen Barringer capping off the heat in 21.64.

Thomas Worthingon's (OH) Justin Braun ran 21.56 in heat 26, along with Matthew Spicer's 21.64 and Trei Thorogood's 21.93. The previous heat produced two more efforts under 22, with Mountain Island Charter's (NC) Trevin Moyer clocking a time of 21.69 while South County's (VA) Sean Jackson followed in 21.78 seconds, respectively.

All nine performances now stand among the all-time rankings in the 200m since 2000, according to MileSplit's database.
