Charlotte Bednar cannot be stopped, on Saturday she set another New Jersey high school outdoor track record when she ran a 9:20.98 3K at the GSTC High School Fall Showcase Meet #3. Her performance takes down the 9:33.7 state record held by Meg Waldron of Bernards since 1981.

Just a week prior during the Big City Invitational the Lawrenceville School junior lowered her own New Jersey state record in the 5K to 16:21.67. When looking at the 3200m conversion, 10:02.32c, Bednar is paced well ahead of the 3200m state record held by Abby Loveys of Randolph at 10:10.24.

With Lawrenceville's fall cross country season cancelled due to COVID-19 precautions, Bednar has been competing unattached gathering these records on the track at club meets. On December 5th we'll have a chance to see what she has in store for Holmdel Park when she competes in the East Coast Cross Country Championships.

Jackson Barna of Ridge ran to New Jersey No. 7 all-time and a Ridge school record in the boys outdoor 5K with his 14:35.76 for second place behind Gavin Sherry's (CT) 14:30.37.

"Going into the race I had high hopes to break 15," Barna stated, "But I never thought I'd drop a 14:35. Seeing now that I'm No. 7 all time is crazy to me, it's only my junior year and I still have a lot to improve. I didn't expect to get many opportunities to run fast times this season, but it was really great to be able to take advantage of this one."

Ahead of Barna on this stacked New Jersey 5K list is state record holder Edward Cheserek at 14:02.33, Joe Rosa, Chris Hallinan, Andy Martin, Craig Forys, and Doug Smith. Barna closed with a final 400m of 65.79 to earn the time.
