After pre-race favorite Terry Miller was knocked out of the race due to a false start, it opened up things for the rest of the field in the 100 meter dash finals, which Canton's Chelsea Mitchell took full advantage and full steam ahead to clocking a lifetime best of 11.67 for the 2019 CIAC State Open title. The outcome likely would have been the same as shown by Mitchell winning the New England title in her next competition as well.
