Recent Commitments by Meet of Champions Winners
Victoria Vanriele to Penn State
Governor Livingston senior Victoria Vanriele has been an absolute force in New Jersey mid-distance running for three years now, and with a senior year of competition still to go on the track we're excited to see the action continue.
Vanriele hasn't lost an NJSIAA Meet of Champions 800m in her three years of high school competition, she's won six straight titles. She finished freshman year with an impressive 2:09.05 PR and has dropped that over the years to a New Jersey number five all-time performance of 2:05.15. (PRs: 2:05.15 - 800m, 54.33 - 400m)
Ramy Berberena to University of Miami
North Brunswick's Ramy Berberena had a solid high school career through sophomore year but he forced people to notice his talent with a breakout junior season that finished coming just .01 away from a National Championship win at NBNO running a massive PR of 51.66. Just a week before he won his first Meet of Champions title running 52.23. (PRs: 51.66 - 400H, 48.73 - 400m)
Caroline Dannenbaum to Vanderbilt University
Pingry's Caroline Dannenbaum has been among New Jersey's very best in a recent surge of talent in the pole vault. With her senior track and field seasons still to go she has a total of six top ten finishes at the Meet of Champions, two silver medals, and one Meet of Champions win which came during indoor of last winter. She currently ranks NJ#4 all-time indoors at 12-10.25 and third all-time in state history outdoors having cleared 13-0.
Bradley Jelmert to Arkansas State University
Watchung Hills vaulter Bradley Jelmert won his first Meet of Champions title during the Outdoor 2019 season after an exciting battle with Simon Schenk where both cleared 15-06. He was also close to winning during the indoor season when three athletes cleared 15-06 together but had to settle for second.
Jelmert's outdoor PR of 16-01.5 ranks fifth all-time in New Jersey state history.
