Marcelis, Germantown Friends Run Well In NJ


Annika Marcelis claimed the win and both the girls' and boys' Germantown Friends squads impressed at Saturday's Bob Kiessling Invitational in Franklinville, New Jersey.

Marcelis, a Germantown Friends sophomore, went 18:45 to run away with the win in the girls' race. She won by well over a minute over second place. She was fourth at the PAISAA Championships two weeks ago, and Saturday marks Marcelis' sixth top five finish of the season and her first win of the fall.

The Germantown Friends girls took a close second in the team race to New Jersey's Paul VI, 29-32. GFS put four girls in the top seven.

On the boys' side, Germantown Friends earned a dominant 30-point victory. GFS scored 29 points for the win with a 45-second gap. Ben Rosin paced GFS with a second place finish in 16:32. Matthew Goldberg was fourth in 16:38.
