Bubble Parking Lot Getting an Upgrade

The most "non-track" but "major track" news in New Jersey has come to fruition. The Bubble parking lot is being paved, gone are the days of muddy sneakers and moats of mud water around your car after a Toms River based track and field event.

It may seem odd to have an article about a parking lot but anyone who has experienced indoor track and field in New Jersey in the past decade will relate to its posting.  Along with the parking lot the lighting inside has been redone. For those wondering the outdoor porta-johns remain for now. The track itself has recently seen a repave as well, with the entire thing redone in 2018 and the start-line again in 2019.

All-Time Meet of Champions Performances at the Bubble

The Toms River "Bubble" has been in operation since 2007 and with its central location, the NJSIAA hosting its meets there for the past ten plus years, and the fact that New Jersey's number of in-state facilities is lacking has made this place the biggest hub for winter track and field action in the Garden State ever since.

Just check out some of the all-time Meet of Champions performances that have rolled through the facility.

Some of the facility records highlight wise... Olympian Sydney McLaughlin holds the record in the 400m at 53.17. Victoria Vanriele set the 800m record at 2:08.81 in 2018. Alyssa Wilson hit a mark of 56-02.5 during Ocean County Championships in 2017. Liam Murphy and Devin Hart ran one of the best 3200m race in state history when they both went to the line at 8:54.22 and 8:54.45 respectively. Mario Heslop clocked 6.34 in the 55m dash during the 2018 Group Championships. Nick Vena hit a 70-04.5 in the shot put in 2011.

The Meet of Champions may be moving to Ocean Breeze this winter, but the rest of the NJSIAA meets remain and there is still a major amount of New Jersey hosted meets being run at the Bubble. A solid clean parking lot to rest your wheels on is a huge plus.
