Water Drive For Newark to be Held at Shore Coaches Invite

FloSports and MileSplit have joined forces with the Shore Track Coaches Association to hold a bottled water drive at the 2019 New Balance Shore Coaches Invitational on Oct. 5 at Holmdel Park.

The bottled water will be donated to the City of Newark, which is in need of clean water because it has a lead contamination in its drinking water.

We are asking the running community to help those in need by having every team competing at the Shore Coaches meet donate a sealed case of bottle water (additional cases would be greatly appreciated). Please bring the cases of water with you to the meet. A truck will be parked near the team bus drop off area for easy collection.

Parents who want to donate water should coordinate with the coach to see if they can transport the water on the team bus. There won't be any water collection at the Vonage parking lot where spectators must park. Spectators can bring cases of water with them on the bus from Vonage to the water collection truck at Holmdel Park.

Our goal is to collect at least 250 cases of water, so please help anyway you can. Let's show the City of Newark how much we care about them!

In addition, this year's coaches race at the Shore Coaches meet will be titled the "Race For Clean Water,'' so, if you would like to participate in the coaches race, we are asking your team to sponsor you with a donation of two cases or more of water.

To sign up for the coaches race, e-mail Meet Director Brian Decker at bdecker1600@gmail.com or Steve Theobald at stheobald@jacksonsd.org.  You can also register the day of the race!!

Thank you in advance for your support in our efforts to provide clean drinking water for the City of Newark and bringing awareness to this issue. We appreciate all your help!
