Once again the PTXC meet in Kutztown, PA proved to be an exciting opener for some of New Jersey's top talent.

In the Boys Gold division Mendham senior Jack Jennings won an exciting down to the line finish with Owen Johnson of Calvert Hall College HS, both clocked at 15:46.

The result was thanks to a comeback effort by Jennings with a huge kick to close out the race. His 'one card' sparked a third place team finish with 136 points, only 25 behind Calvert Hall College HS. The always strong Loudoun Valley squad out of Virginia won the meet with a 27 point run splitting just 15 seconds between their top five.

This was a big improvement for Jennings who finished 20th at this meet last year running 16:32. The NJ#5 ranked Mendham squad averaged 16:44, Zachary Hodges and Ryan Kear cracked the top 20 finishing 19th and 20th at 16:37 and 16:41. Sam Marran ran 29th with a 16:57 and their top five was capped off by Tim Lanahan in 68th at 17:41.

A great start for one of the top returners in the state and the squad as a whole.

On the girls side of the meet Caroline Mehlhorn of Montgomery won the Blue Division race for the second straight year with a time of 19:03. This race was a big breakout run for her as a freshman last fall, she'll look to once again run off this momentum for a strong sophomore year which could see a variety of possible individual titles. Mehlhorn is the defending Central Group 4 Sectional Champion and was fifth last year at the Meet of Champions.

Montgomery also scored a win in the girls junior varsity race thanks to sophomore Elizabeth Henderson, she actually clocked in the team's second best performance of the meet at 20:49.
