Group 1 Girls Preseason Breakdown

Individuals to Watch

Quick Notes

-Corina Vidal of Henry Hudson is back to defend her Group and Central Sectional titles. The Group win came with a 19:27 and 13 second lead. Vidal's PR at Holmdel Park is an 18:56 which happened last year finishing second at Monmouth County Championships. 

-This group had three freshmen and four sophomores finish top 12 at last year's Group 1 Championship so expect a lot of improved challengers with another year of valuable experience under their belts. 

-Sophia Lore heads into her junior campaign with two straight top three finishes at Group 1 Champs, and she is the second fastest Group 1 returner at Holmdel running 19:49. Her teammate Lily Hann finished seventh last year as a freshman ranks third among returners.  

-A P Schalick junior Julia Smith returns to defend her South Sectional title. Smith dropped her 3200m time from 12:12 to an 11:35 this past spring ranking second in Group 1. She was 19th in last years XC Group Championship at 21:44. 

-Mountain Lakes looks to defend it's team title returning six of their top seven from last year's State Championship squad. One junior and five sophomores! Sophia Lore, Lily Hann, Laila Dages, Kendall Palazzi, Ava Smith, Jillian Hornby all coming back from the 2018 title. 

-Haddon Township, led by Regan Shemeley, returns everyone from their 2018 squad. McNair Academic loses their #1 in Claire Chapeau to graduation but sees a veteran team made up of four returning top seven seniors.
