Athing Mu of Trenton TC, the 2019 MileSplit50 Indoor Athlete of the Year and defending 800 meter New Balance Nationals Outdoor Champion, opened up her season with a state leading 400m and 1500m double on Saturday.

The Tri State Track and Field Developmental Series meet took place in Burlington Twp featuring age group competition.

In the 400m Athing Mu won the 15-18 year old division by over four seconds running 54.27 taking over the state lead from Victoria Vanriele who posted a 55.20 at Union County Conference on Thursday. That 400m time also cracks the top 25 in the country so far this season. From there the New Jersey track star doubled back in the 1500m for another victory with a time of 4:43.18, just ten seconds off her PR pace of 4:33 which won her the AAU Junior Olympic Games in 2017.

Mu is coming off a historic indoor season, she had four US#1 times including the 400m, 52.55, 600m, 1:23.57, 800m, 2:03.98, and 1000m, 2:44.43. Her 600m performance is an American Record and was run against the pros at USATF Indoor Championships.
