400 Meter Dash - State Rankings

9:56 a.m. Here we go. First heat is headed on the track

Here comes defending champ Mario Heslop!!!

I had around 49.5 for Heslop, wh wins his 2nd straight title. One down for the Franklin star, who will be attempting history today. He wil try to win the 400, 200 and 55 dash, something no one has ever done.

Officially it's 49.57 for Heslop. Zach Murray of Haddonfield gets 2nd in 49.80.

Heslop eased up over the last 15 meters or so. He has 3 more races to run. The 55 dash trials, the 200 and then the dash final.

1600 Meter Run - State Rankings

10:05 a.m. 3 heats.

Devin Hart is not running this. He'll focus a fast 3,200.

Tim McInerney of CBA, 2nd in the 1,600 at the outdoor M of C, is the favorite here.  Look out for Jack Stanley of Mendham and Will Baginski of Ridgewood.

Here we go. Seeded heat

McInerney goes to the front. 63. for first 400.

Stanley takes over with a big move and leads at 800 in 2:08.7.

Stanley leads at 1,200 in 3:12.9with Baginski and McInerney right on his heels.

Baginski makes huge move on 7th lap and leads at the bell.

Baginksi wins in 4:12.90!!!!!  That's NJ#2 and US #18 this season and No. 6 in meet history!!!!!!

GET UR WILL BAGINSKI KICK ON-

29.7 for the lst 200 for Baginski!!!! 60.1 last 400!!!!

Stanley 2nd with a PR of 4:15.25. Francis Martingale of Memorial got third overall with a big PR of 4:15.58 out of an unseeded heat.

What a HUGE win for Baginski, who missed most of the spring season with a stress fracture.

800 Meter Run - State Rankings

10:49 a.m. First heat is off.

Elijah Brown of Union Catholic makes a huge move to grab lead just before the bell and no one can catch him. Brown wins in 1:53.98, a HUGE PR and No. 2 in NJ this season.  Liggins is 2nd in 1:54.10.

200 Meter Dash - State Rankings

Heslop is on the track again

Heslop wins in 21.82!!!  He's one win away from history. Can he do it??? He doesn't have much time before the dash final.

55 Meter Hurdles - State Rankings

YOWZAA!! Defending champ Sincere Rhea of St. Augustine goes 7.25 in the trials, that's No. 4 in meet history!!!!!!  The meet record of 7.19 is in big trouble!!!

11:13 a.m. Here comes Rhea!!!! How low will he go????

RHEA WINS!!! Waiting on the time!

Rhea wins in 7.22, tied for No. 3 in meet history. He's the first repeat winner since Sultan Tucker of Delsea in 1996-97 and just the 5th boy to win 2 in a row.

55 Meter Dash - State Rankings

HOLY SMOKES!!! Louis Akpadago of Hamilton North JUST WENT 6.38 IN THE TRIALS TO TIE THE MEET RECORD!!!

Akpadago finished ahead of Heslop, who went 6.44 in the same heat

AKPADAGO WINS THE DASH FINAL in 6.38!!  HE TIES THE MEET RECORD AGAIN!!!

Heslop is second in 6.41. Heslop had just 11 minutes and 28 seconds of recovery time between the 200 and the dash final.

Heslop comes so close again to the 55, 200, 400 triple. Last year, he also won the 200 and 400 and was second in the 55 dash. He said he will try to make history again outdoors at the M of C by trying to become the first boy to ever win the 100, 200, and 400 at the same M of C. I wouldn't bet against him.

Heslop, a senior, now owns 6 M of C titles-he won the 100 and 400 last spring to with his back-to-back 200/400 indoor doubles.

3200 Meter Run - State Rankings
