Ridge swept the team titles, freshman Caroline Mehlhorn of Montgomery pulled off a big upset victory, and John McGovern of Somerville captured the boys individual title at Friday's Somerset County Championships at Pleasant Valley Park in Bernards Township.
Mehlhorn continued her remarkable rookie season by running 18:26 to finish eight seconds ahead of runner-up Manon Stephen of Ridge (18:34) and 14 seconds in front of defending champion Nicole Vanasse of Pingry (18:40). Vanasse won the state Non-Public A title last year.

In the boys race, Ridge , ranked No, 8 in the state, dominated by placing 2-5-8-9-13 with a 47 second compression and 16:55 average on the way to a 37-90 victory over defending champion Hillsborough. It's the first county title for Ridge since 2010.
Individually, McGovern, who placed second as a junior last year, finished first in 16:25, five seconds ahead of runner-up James Glockenmeier of Ridge.
