The NJ Track and Field Express is making a stop at one of the oldest county relay meets in the state today when the  two-day Union County Relays will celebrate its 75th anniversary at Gary Kehler Stadium in Westfield.

The two-day meet begins today at 4 p.m. and contiues tomorrow (Friday) at 4 p.m.

HIGHLIGHTS

3:55 p.m. It's show time here at Kehler Stadium. I'm trackside here and there is a good chance for a new PR for most sweat ever dripped on a keyboard.

3:59 p.m. Boys DMR is up first.  
4:01 p.m. The gun goes off, thank goodness. 

4:04 pm. Summit boys grab the lead after a 3:10.8 1,200 from soph. Jacob Pantoya. 

4:07 p.m. Summit still leads at the last handoff with Rahway and UC just a few strides behind.

4:11 p.m. Scotch Plains comes from behind to win the boys DMR in an NJ #18 10:41.20. Huge anchor leg for SPF's Brandon Garcia. Splits coming

4:12 P.M. SPF SPLITS

4:16 p.m. Girls DMR is off.

4:20 p.m. Westfield has the lead after the 1,200 leg in girls DMR.

4:21 p.m. Westfield and UC are together after the 2nd leg. Ashleigh Patterson dropped a 59.1 for UC to make up a lot of ground.

4:23 p.m. UC has the lead heading into the anchor leg. The meet record of 12:27.81 by New Providence in 2016 is going down. How low will UC go??

4:29 p.m. UC GOES 12:17.53!!!! GET UR MEET RECORD ON!!!  That's tied for NJ #2 with Ridgewood. North Hunterdon is NJ #1 with the 12:01.17.

The UC girls now own 8 of the meet records on the track. Which one are they missing? The team 400 hurdles.

Westfield was second in a NJ #5 and school record 12:25.77. GET UR RISING STAR ON-Freshman Katie Hamilton split 5:14.9 for Westfield.

4:34 p.m. UC SPLITS-

4:35 P.M. The  boys 4x100 is next.

4:46 p.m. RAHWAY just went a NJ #142.37 for the win!!!!

4:59 p.m. Girls 4x100. Can UC break another record?

5:01 p.m. YES THEY CAN!!! UC goes 47.51 to take down the meet record of47.72 that UC set last year. 

5:05 p.m. Boys 400 hurdles are next

5:24 p.m. Ugonna Ike of Linden edges Jerrish Halsey of Rahway, 55.77 to 55.94 in the final heat. Those were the 2 fastest times of the meet. Rahway won the event with a combined 2:53.67. 

5:26 p.m. Girls 400 hurdles are up  44. 

5:33 p.m. Kyle Lipscomb of Linden with the best shot put mark of 53-8. Union Catholic wins the event with a combined 146-8. 

5:36 p.m. UC girls win the 400 hurdles with a combined 3:20.44. Zamira Ysaac of UC ran a meet best 1:04.37.

5:38 p.m. Boys SMR is on deck.

5:54 p.m. Spencer Weigand goes 1:57.2 on the anchor carry to come from behind and bring Westfield across first 3:32.01 in the boys SMR. Get ur Jake Saltzer on!!! He dropped a PR of 48.6 for Westfield on the 400

5:55 p.m. Three heats of the girls SMR is coming up. Last track event of the day. The meet will resume tomorrow at 4 p.m. right here at Kehler Stadium.

6:01 p.m. Kailah Turner throws a meet best 100-11 to lead Rahway to the team discus title.

6:06 p.m. Jenna Wiese cleared a meet best 5-2 to spark Johnson to the girls HJ title with a combined 5-2.

6:12 p.m. UC girls win the SMR in a NJ #1 4:07.45 to give the Vikings a sweep of all 4 track races today. Khamil Evans blasted a 56.1 400 leg and Leena Morant anchored in 2:19.0 for UC.

6:14 p.m.  UC soph Conor Reilly cleared 14-0 and teammate Obadare Animashaun made 11-0 to combine to win the boys PV.

6:15 p.m. TEAM SCORE ALERT- The UC girls, going for their 4th title in a row, lead Scotch Plains-Fanwood, 50-28. The UC boys, the defending champs, lead Rahway 50-38.

6:16 p.m. WHAT A MEET!!!  GET UR HOT TIMES IN THE HOT WEATHER ON!!!!

TWO MEET RECORDS BY THE UC GIRLS. NJ NO. 1 TIME BY RAHWAY BOYS IN THE 4x100 AND LOTS OF NJ TOP 10 TIMES!!!!
