(12:28), with Zachary Wishbow of Allentown third in 10:37.  Metlitz led Red Bank  Reg. to the team win in this one.

Note: Due to lengthening the course, all winning times stand as New CRs.

Lancer Invitational - Livingston HS

At the Lancer Invitational, contested at Livingston HS, Millburn junir Tyler Udland picked up where he left off in NJ last spring. In winning the Boys Varsity Division he set a new Course record of 16:17 to smash the five year old mark of 16:47 set by Seton Hall Prep's Mike Rolek in 2003.  Udland led a 1-2-3 sweep, being followed across the line by Brian Robinson (16:47) and Danny Kirschner (17:00). The trio led Millburn to the team title with 30 points.

Tori Berard, a senior at Morris Knoll dismantled her own Course Record of 19:30, set last year, with a blistering time of 19:12. Berard passed the mile mark in 5:57 en route to a 53 second win over Nikki Hallenborg of Summit (20:05), with Diana D'Achille also of Morris Knolls 3rd in 20:05. Despite the 1-3 finish by Morris Knolls, Summit took the team honors with 36 points to their 41 pts with Millburn 3rd with 67.

Petty Fun Run - Delaware Valley HS

The Fifteenth Annual Petty Fun Run took place over the 5k course at Delaware Valley HS. The run is named for Bill Petty, who coached the programs at Del Val from 1970 through 1993, and who is still active in the Del Val running community. The course is the home course for the Hunterdon Warren Championships. Course condition was wet but there were no problem areas. The race is typically an informal early season run, with some schools using it as a time trial and others as a workout. Thrown into the mix were a number of holdouts and runners involved in ACT testing, notably Lanie Thompson of Voorhees.

Girls Results -
Colette Whitney of Voorhees was out strongly from the start, and held a solid 10 second gap on Julia Mark of Del Val and her teammate Emma Giantisco for the entire race.  18:52 a very solid time on that course; Thompson won the H/W champs in 18:38 last fall, Spratford :48 (sloppy course); CR is 18:32 by Jodie Bilotta of North.  Other Voorhees Runnners  Petruzzelis, Lynn, Hahn and Hicks rounded out the top five.

Del Val showed some promise on their home course, with Julia Mark second at 19:04, Emma Giantisco in third at 19:53. With their next three in the top 20, looks like they have five to build on.

As noted, most of the North girls were running as a workout, a few pushing for spots among the top 15 and were running a bit harder. With 13 of the top 27 spots, obviously a team with a lot of depth, that should be heard from as the season progresses.

Phillipsburg placed three in the top 12, but need help after that… Julia Megaro in 20:09 for fourth, Meghan Carroll 21:17 for seventh; Eileen Duddy 22:05 for twelfth.

North Warren’s Lindsey McKee was eighth in 21:21.

Boys Results -North Hunterdon’s Matt McDonald was a surprise winner in the boys’ race, dropping a foursome from Phillipsburg on the one major hill mid-race. Time would have placed him fifth in last year’s H/W Champs. I’m certain a big PR for Matt, a junior who has shown promise and now will benefit from a summer of hard work. North missing its other top runner and Matt’s training partner, Sam Goodwin, who was ill. With the next three at 17:57 (Ryan Vance), 18:19 (Ted Held), and 18:48 (Peter Fleming), North has the makings of a respectable team this year.

Phillipsburg put four runners in behind McDonald… Robert Moyer in 17:29, Jon Harper in 17:32, Adam Simon in 17:37, and Henry Murray in 17:49. Fifth runner was Andrew Kisuuie at 18:26. A nice pack of four, need to get #5 up there closer.

Roxbury Invitational - Succasunna NJ (Horseshoe Lake Park)

Mendham HS saw both Mike Franklin and Laura Vigilante take the Jr./Sr. Division races. Franklin, a senior won in 15:52 over Delbarton junior Pat Schellberg (15:58) and teammate/fellow senior James Frick (16:04). Mendham took team honors handily with 13 points in a 4 man scoring.

Vigilante (18:41) blitzed the field ,leading from the gun and passing the mile in 5:42. Second place went to Erin McKenna of Ramapo who ran 20:15, ahead of 3rd placer Megen Schenk of Brick (20:29). West Morris won the team title with 51 pts (4 scorers).

Neptune freshman Ajee Wilson, expected to be a top frosh this year, and her fellow freshmen  ended up running a full 5k and not the 3500m run by all the other frosh due to a late arrival. Meet officials allowed the team to enter the sophmore race and Ajee raced to the victory in 20:07.
