On Saturday David Rosas of Don Bosco became his school's first ever individual Non-Public A state cross country champion. After battling with Joey DeFeo of Delbarton all race long Rosas put the pedal down the through the back woods and to the finish to seal the victory at 15:54, a Holmdel Park PR by four seconds and his second time under 16 minutes at the course. DeFeo also went under 16 minutes at 15:59, one of only nine to do so on the day. Don Bosco would go on from there to finish second as a team with 58 points and Delbarton earned third with 97 points.


The team championship went to Christian Brothers Academy who brought the NPA title back to Lincroft in 2016. They split a mere 22 seconds between their scoring five for 34 points and a team average of 16:24. The charge was led by a photo finish at the line for fourth and fifth with teammates Genaro Anzalone and Brian Hill both recording 16:18. CBA locked up places fourth through seventh and closed their top five with Colin Trigani in 12th. 

This is CBA's 27th Group State Championship title, they last won in 2014.
