Here is the four view highlight video of the girls varsity race on Thursday from the Skyland Conference Championships! This was a "can't miss event" with the #1 and #2 teams in the state of New Jersey, North Hunterdon and Ridge, going head to head.
North Hunterdon struck early with the one card going to sophomore Ellie DiMarcello who came across at 18:15, that placed her 17 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. After Lauren Wagner of Voorhees continued her great season taking second at 18:32, the action went back to the two powerhouses. North Hunterdon scored again with Angela Kearsley in third at 18:34 just out kicking Ridge's Shayna Bains to the line with the same time in fourth.
The real winning factor from there was when North Hunterdon's Anna DiMarcello secured the fifth spot at 18:43, that gave her team three of the top five places. Add on Emily Nugent in ninth and Brenna Talamo in 15th to seal the deal it would have been a hard road back for Ridge, who despite placing four of their own in the top ten, couldn't make up the points. North Hunterdon earned the win with a score of 32 verse Ridge's 41.
North Hunterdon's victory came on an 18:47 average and a 1:12 split between their top five. Ridge also ran well in second averaging 18:57 and splitting a mere 49 seconds among their scorers.
It is going to be another fun state championship season in November!
