Lexi Del Gizzo, a junior from Tenafly, burst onto the 800 meter scene this state season and finished strong winning gold at the Meet of Champions. Her winning time of 2:11.98 was her second best this season as she already ranked NJ#2 with her Group 3 Championship winning run of 2:10.17.
Before Sectionals, where she ran 2:13.66, she had never broken 2:17 in the event primarily focusing on shorter distance sprints before this season. She holds outdoor PRs of 12.92 in the 100 meter, 25.32 in the 200 meter, and 56.47 in the 400 meter.
