Alyssa Wilson Sets U-18 National Record in 3 kg Shot Put | Watch Here!


Don't blink an eye or you might miss Alyssa Wilson setting another record! The steel measuring tape had to be brought out when the Donovan Catholic star's magical season continued Sunday evening. She threw 60-1.5 (18.33m) in the 3kg shot put setting the national under 18 record previously held by Sophia Rivera at 59-4.25 (18.09m) at USATF World Youth Trials. The new record throw took place at a Monmouth University Summer Throws series meet in conjuction with USATF, full results pending

Wilson's previous PR in the 3kg was her 52-9.25 at the same USATF World Youth Trials that past record holder Sophia Rivera threw her mark. 

This is coming off a successful weekend at NJSIAA Group State Championships where Wilson led the way throwing 53-8.5 in the 4kg shot put and 154-2 in the discus. 

Thanks to throws earlier this season she holds the New Jersey state record in the 4kg shot put with her mark of 55-1.25 from Shore Conference Championships as well as in the discus throwing 175-1 at Ocean County Championships

Wilson will continue her spring competition on Wednesday afternoon when she competes at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions
