The rain was pouring.. the sun was gone.. the turns were dark and scary.. none of that mattered to Alyssa Aldridge of Mainland Regional who took the pace out early all alone in the Rowan Girls HS Open 3200 meter run.
She charged through the tough conditions to run a time of 10:41.57, that's NJ#1 this season and broke a 36 year old record! Only a sophomore this is also Aldridge's personal record in the outdoor event, her previous best coming from the 2015 Cape-Atlantic League Championships where she ran 10:58.99.
The previous meet record was held by Dawn Cody of Paul VI, she ran a time of 10:52.9 in 1980 at this meet.
Aldridge's splits are below, thanks to Tomahawk Timing. She came through the first 1600 meter running 5:18.38 and closed her last 400 meter with a 76.78. Her fastest split the opening lap with a time of 74.45 where she dared the race to go with her.

This race slot switches between a 3000 meter, 3200 meter, and two mile race each year. The two mile record is held by Dana Giordano of Bernards who ran 10:45.52 in 2012, and the 3000 meter record is held by Danielle Tauro of Southern Regional who posted a 9:47.10 in 2007.
