Union Catholic Girls First American Team in COA

The Union Catholic girls took to the track ready to go head to head with top Jamaican and American teams in the Championship of America 4x400 meter on Friday at Penn Relays. 

They finished third overall running 3:42.59 which is US#3 this season, but they were the first American team in the race only behind Edwin Allen and St. Elizabeth Tech of Jamaica who ran 3:40.88 and 3:41.17. 

Tia Livingston opened up with a 57.8, Amari Onque-Shabazz 55.1, Cassandra Lamadieu 57.59, and then Sydney McLaughlin dropped a 52.12 anchor leg receiving the baton in fourth well behind the leaders before moving up one spot and closing the gap to just under two seconds behind second place. 

Union Catholic qualified for the Championship of America the previous afternoon when they posted a 3:46.85 time, well ahead of the rest of their preliminary heat.
