In total 842 New Jersey performances were recorded on Tuesday at the New York Armory. We highlight some of the best performances below.
The Christian Brothers Academy boys ran their way to a US#1 performance with a time of 10:26.79 to win the Marine Corps Classic distance medley relay. Sean Martinek (3:12.5), Brendan Bodisch (51.7), Mike Zupko (2:01.4), and Drake Anzano (4:21.2) the four relay legs. We now have three New Jersey teams in the top 10 nationally for the event, Trenton Central also at this meet running 10:54.58 for US#8.
New Jersey's nationally ranked boys performances didn't stop with the DMR. Union Catholic won their Sprint Medley Relay with a time of 3:38.81 for US#1, Willingboro right behind them in 2nd at 3:40.23 for US#3. Weequahic put down a NJ#1 US#5 in the boys 4x55 meter shuttle hurdles running 30.34 for the win. Weequahic also had an individual go US#2 as James Jean won the 200 meter dash with 22.11. The East Orange Campus boys took third in the 4x200 meter relay now NJ#1 US#3.
Some more individual highlights.. Trae Robinson of Union Catholic went NJ#2 US#11 in the 800 meter running 1:58.01 for 5th. Semaj Willis of Trenton Central tied the NJ#1 US#8 height of 6-6 taking first in the High Jump.
Lastly Jordan West from Rahway threw 57-11.5 to win the shot put, he already ranks US#5 with a 58-6.75 from opening week.
On the girls side we saw four state leaders from the meet. Kiara Lester of Deptford was ninth in the preliminaries clocking in at 25.54 for NJ#1. Hannah Bonaguidi from Delaware Valley, who had a great cross country season, opened up her indoor competition with a NJ#1 US#5 4:57.79 mile for second place. Union Catholic took over two spots on the state leaderboard via this meet. The UC girls ran the 4x55 meter shuttle hurdles for NJ#1 US#3 at 34.34, and in the 4x800 meter they posted a 9:57.50 NJ#1 time for the win.
In other words New Jersey had a really good day.
