New Jersey Sends FIVE to Foot Locker Nationals! FL Northeast Recap

On Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park in New York, NY the Northeast squared off in their annual Foot Locker Regional meeting. An individual focused meet the top ten finishers all advance to Nationals on December 12th in San Diego, CA.

The girls race was flying with nine finishers under 18 minutes. The top time was Madeleine Davison (PA) with a 17:39. In the pack behind her we had two New Jersey girls in position to advance. Running 17:44 for fifth was junior Briana Gess of Haddonfield. This is her second qualification for Foot Locker Nationals where she went in 2013 as a freshmen, due to illness she did not run at Regionals in 2014. 

Right behind Gess in sixth with 17:48 was sophomore Alyssa Aldridge the Group 3 and NJ MOCs Champion from Mainland Regional. This was her first experience at Foot Locker Northeast after not running the event last year as a freshmen. 

Also close to qualifying was Hannah Bonaguidi of Delaware Valley in 13th with 18:34 and Ciara Roche of Freehold Twp in 17th with 18:44.

The Jersey girls finished third among the Northeast states with 72 points, New York led with 52 and Pennsylvania in second with 70.

In the boys race New Jersey saw not one, not two, but three qualifiers. We were led by Joshua Clark of Highland Regional in fourth with 15:28. He entered the meet undefeated with seven wins on the season and remains undefeated against New Jersey athletes this fall. 

In seventh was Joe Dragon of High Point Regional who ran 15:31, he was battling for the lead most of the race. Right behind him was junior Matt Grossman from Millburn in eighth with 15:34. All three of these athletes finished top five at the New Jersey Meet of Champions the week before. 

With help from these qualifiers and other great performances following them New Jersey had the best boys showing of the meet outscoring New York and Pennsylvania with 58 points to their 70 and 72.
