CH East and R-F Haven Do Work, Individuals Shine | Battle at Ocean County Park

We were able to see a glimpse of the future and present for teams at Ocean County Park on Friday as the annual class meet Battle at Ocean County Park took off for a 6th time.

Here is a table of the winners in each race both individually and team wise. Freshmen run 2 miles and all class races score top three.

Cherry Hill East dominates the boys side with four runners in the top 10 times of the meet. Aaron Groff and Marc Meltzer ranked number one and two running 15:35 and 15:59. They also won the senior and junior class divisions. Aaron Groff's 2014 time from this meet still ranks as the second fastest all-time for the meet at 15:29.

When looking over the merge results Cherry Hill East scored 32 points averaging 16:04 on the super quick Ocean County Park course. Right behind them was Christian Brothers Academy who didn't run their varsity crew at 98 points and an average of 16:27. CBA was led by junior Joe Boyle who had the third fastest time of the day at 16:00, also making the top ten fastest times from CBA was JP Stark who ranks 8th in the merge at 16:11. Another note, Joe Boyle of CBA cracked the top 20 on the all-time leaderboard for the meet and now ranks 18th.

Rumson-Fair Haven leads the girls team wise with wins in both the freshmen and junior class races. They also had the best overall team performance in the merge scoring 115 points for an average of 19:49. They took home a few decent sized trophies for their efforts (as pictured above).

The Seneca girls were right behind R-F Haven overall ranking second in the merge at 122 points and averaging 20:01. The big number with Seneca is that they only split 47 seconds between their number one and five! They were led by junior Kayla Martin with the 13th best time of 19:38, also making the top 20 overall was Joey Webb running 19:55.

Individually the fastest time of the meet was run by Jillian Turner of New Providence, she took over the girls race and never looked back running 18:21. She now ranks fourth on the all-time leaderboard for this meet. Four girls went under 19 minutes during the event; Jillian Turner, Nora Honrath of St. John Vianney 18:32, Emily Hellman of R-F Haven 18:38, and Paige Petty of Bernards 18:46. All of these girls now rank top ten all-time for the meet.
