Will this rule be strictly enforced during the spring season and will officials be notifying the athletes during clerking? Virtuallly all of the top vaulters in the state use rental poles from clubs.

    Ridiculous!!!
I could care less if the pole was flourscent orange with stickers all over it... so long as it was not modified and met all standards.
Seems they don't want the athlete promoting/advertising a PV club....
It's no different than advertising clubs or companies on shirts, shoes, etc.

And the high school rule book, which is NOT created by the NJSIAA but is used in all 50 states and DC prohibits the displaying of all but the smallest company logo. No company advertising or logo is permitted anywhere.

I am not defending this rule, just stating what is in the rule book relative to you not caring about stickers, etc.

Perhaps I misinterpreted what I read...
it sounded like a NJSIAA rule... however, if that is the standard for all HS... then so be it.
I'm a distance guy anyway... what do I know..

Personally, I am a little annoyed since I (NOT a club coach) had stickers made (at a decent personal expense) and put on our school's poles so they would easily be identified as ours.

but oh well I guess, and i do think its a good rule, as people need to know that PV is not just for the clubs these days contrary to popular belief.

@jlanza Well, that brings greater clarification to this subject. This is not a new NJSIAA rule, but NJSIAA enforcement of a standing rule in the US high school rule book. I am sure there is some way that the poles can be identified in compliance with the rule. I realize it's not fun to change the identification for all the pole vaulters, but possible.
