I'm not sure I understand why Tim Ball received Gatorade NJ runner of the year and Edward Cheserek didn't get that after winning the National championships AND breaking almost every course record he entered? What are the qualifications for winning that prestigious award??? I don't get it.

Tim Ball was a senior, Edward is still going to win it next year

I was thinking the same thing until I looked it up. Futsum was just named POY and Cheserek beat him at Foot Locker.
It has nothing to do with whether junior or senior.
Verbazkas was 2-time national gatorade POY..
There are numerous factors they consider.
