BEAR MOUNTAIN – When Warwick Valley huddled by a fence just beyond the finish line at Bear Mountain, it didn’t quite look like a team that had just secured its second consecutive county title. They looked more like a hungry squad that just savaged one meal and is already licking their chops for the next one.

Then they won. Relief. Excitement.

  • He was breathing down my back - Manhattan Inv boys story

The only runner capable of challenging Joe Rosa's pursuit of yet another meet record on Saturday was family. Bearing identical blue singlets and shocks of red hair, Rosa and twin brother Jim, juniors from West Windsor Plainsboro North, were indistinguishable as they surged stride-for-stride into Van Cortlandt Park's back hills on Saturday at the Manhattan Invitational.

PHILADELPHIA PA - The Rosa twins, sensational juniors from West Windsor-Plainsboro North had a spectacular Saturday going 1-2 on a notoriously tough course (Belmont Plateau).  Coming into the meet the course record was set by Joe Rosa last year running 15:33.1.  Joe crossed the finised line this year knocking another 14 seconds off the course record clocking 15:19.3.  Not surprising by no means was Joe's twin brother Jim Rosa finishing not far behind brother Joe for a fantastic 1-2 finish.  Jim finished in 15:38.0.  Along with the Rosa's, teammates Jon Saveri (6th 16:16.8), Casey Dalrymple (14th 16:54.2) and Pat O'Connell (40th 18:04.2) finished with a tallied score of 63 to top the Philadelphia native LaSalle College HS. • 2008 NJ High School XC Poll

WEEK 1 Don Bosco / Voorhees Maintain Top Spots  After the first weekend of 2008 XC invites, most of which were low key, last year's 2 MOC Champs are still top ranked. Friday and Saturday saw some excellent racing, but a lot of the top teams did not open up, held out top runners or are still sorting out their "A" lineups.         On the Boys side, the Top Ten did not change except for a swap on the #'s 2 & 3 slots between Morris Hills and WW-P No., which had a very impressive day at their own Class Meet and the addition of Mendham to the list due to a 3 way tie for the #8 spot. Mendam earned their way onto the list with a notable showing at the Roxbury Invitational.
