The 2011 New jersey HS Cross Country approaches the bell lap as the NJSIAA Group Championships take place at venerable Holmdel Park tomorrow (Sat.) . So much excitement and so many story lines as twelve team champions and 12 individual winners will be crowned before everyone leaves the park!

 

NJRunners will be on site from sun up to clean up to bring you as much of the drama and excitement as we can. Keep checking for updates and results tomorrow and then come on back for photo galleries, interviews and more.

 

With 30 minutes to go before the start of the first race of the day (Girls G3) it is still fairly chilly with a steady breeze blowing.

 

First winner of the day is Mackenzie Barry of Mendham, running 18:42 (un). Ariana North (No. Highlands was 2nd, approx 5 sec back.

Morristown takes the team title followed by Moorestown and Delsea

The Girls G2 race is on the course and in the early going, Dana Giordano (Bernards) and Tara Hanley (Chatham) are out front.

Giordano kicks from 300 out to bear Hanley.

Off of rough head count, it looks like Rumson-Fair Haven will win the team race by approx 5 pts.

Boys G3 race winners are Blake Udland and Mendham, both by a lot.

Udland goes 15:48 (un) over Ben Malone

Mendham is the team Champ followed by Morristown in 2nd and Millburn

Girls NP "A" is out on the course now, about 16:30 out

Holly Bischof (Bishop Eustace) wins in 18:47 (un) with Mary Kate Byrne of RBC second. RBC will win the team title.

Kristen Traub takes the NP "B" individual win in about 18:51 (un) over Sarah Quinn of Gill-St. Bernards

Gill-St. Bernard's is the team champ over mt. St. Dominic's

With George Kelly winning, CBA goes 1-2-4-5-6, only broken up by Don Bosco's Christian Costello

Tim Ball runs 15:37 to win the G4 title with Shawn Wilson of Cherokee edging Connor Herr of Shawnee for 2nd

Team title goes to Westfield with West Windsor So. 2nd and Ridgewood 3rd.

No. Hunterdon and freehold will get the wildcard berths at MOC.
