The following was recieved from Lou Fraulo, Meet Director for the North I Sectional;
Fact-The devastation at Garret from the recent storm was so significant that the park is closed to everyone. It will take weeks to clean up. There are downed wires and numerous trees which have fallen or are about to fall and pose an eminent danger to everyone.
Fact-We are trying to secure a new site for the meet and are trying to keep the races on Saturday. A decision should be reached by midday on Wednesday. There are numerous facets that must be considered. Everything from securing insurance forms, parking facilities, security, bathrooms, and a safe and suitable course for the athletes to compete on. It is not a simple task to just move the meet. Everyone has their own idea, but unless you have actually directed a meet of this magnitude, it is impossible to understand the complexities involved. We are trying to come up with a plan that provides the athletes with a safe and suitable site on which to compete. This is not simple!
Fact-NO decision has been made on a site yet.
Fact - all schools in the North 1 section will be notified by the NJSIAA as soon as a decision is reached. The information will also be posted on all websites that normally handle results.
