Nickolas Mirabelli Throws Javelin State Record at MOCs

Nickolas Mirabelli of Rancocas Valley came up with the greatest javelin performance in state history when he unloaded a state record 227-10 to finish first at Saturday's 50th NJSIAA Meet of Champions in Columbus, NJ.

Mirabelli's 227-10, which is No. 2 in the US this season, broke the state and meet record of 224-10 that was set at the 2014 Meet of Champions by Curtis Thompson of Florence.

The victory also served as redemption for the Texas A&M-bound Mirabelli, who failed to make the final last year when he placed ninth.

And by winning the javelin, Nick and his brother, Chris, the javelin M of C winner for Holy Cross in 2014, became the second brother combination to ever win outdoor M of C titles. Kevin and Glenn DiGiorgio of Bayonne combined for eight outdoor M of C titles.
