McNair Academic Distance Star Fahd Nasser Signs His NLI


Fahd Nasser of McNair Academic, one of the state's premier distance runners, made his long awaited college decision official when he signed his National Letter of Intent with Princeton University on Thursday afternoon.

Nasser, who also visited Columbia and UPenn, has put together a remarkable breakout senior season for coach Matt Hogan's team.  

Last fall, Nasser became one of the top XC runner in the country with a season full of historic performances.

Nasser made history when he became the first state champion ever from McNair when he won the the state Group 1 XC title in 16:15. Then he dropped a 25 second Holmdel PR and a Hudson County Holmdel record of 15:50 to place third at the Meet of Champions.  

After his great run through the state meets, Nasser placed ninth at the Foot Locker Northeast Regional Championships in 15:52. At the FL National Championships in San Diego, Nasser ran 15:57 to place 18th, just missing All-American status by three places.

Nasser followed up his XC season with a great indoor campaign. He won the 3,200 at the State Group 1 meet in 9:25.88, was sein the second in the Group 1 1,600 in a personal best 4:17.89, placed fourth in the 3,200 at the Meet of Champions in a personal best 9:23.47.  

Nasser got his final high school outdoor season off to a great start last Saturday when he ran a US #23 15:28.29 to win the 5K at the Metuchen Relays.
