New Jersey's Athing Mu, who has had an amazing career in youth and club competition, posted a time of 2:11.00 in the 800 meter at the Armory Youth Holiday Classic on December 17th. She did so all alone winning her race by 30 seconds and her performance is the only one under 2:14 in the U.S. so far this season.
Her brother Mulual Mu won the NJSIAA Meet of Champions 1600 meter title last winter running 4:19.88. While Mulual has been competing in the high school ranks for Trenton Central his sister Athing has been making her own marks in youth and club competing under Trenton TC. Athing won two golds in 15-16 year old division events at last summer's AAU Junior Olympic Games, finishing less than a second off the 800 meter age group national record of 2:07.08 held by New Jersey great Ajee' Wilson since 2009.
