Sad news out of North Brunswick HS as they and the track and field community as a whole lost one of our own. Ibrahim Kargbo was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Friday morning near Adams Lane in North Brunswick which was traveling from Springfield, Massachusetts to Washington D.C..

A vigil is being held Monday night at 7:00 pm at the North Brunswick High School stadium. Those close to Ibrahim have setup a GoFundMe in his honor, they will be giving out a scholarship in his name each season. The fund has already almost reached $9,000.

Kargbo specialized in the hurdle events and was set to begin his senior year this September. More details and comments from those close to Kargbo can be found in this myCentralJersey.com article by Susan Loyer

Dear Parents/Guardians and Members of the North Brunswick Community:

Yesterday, The North Brunswick School District learned about the sudden death of one of our students, Ibrahim Kargbo, who would have been a senior in September. We are deeply saddened by this loss and have our crisis management procedures in place to help children, staff and members of the community with their reactions to this tragedy.

On Monday, July 17, members of our Crisis Response Team and our school counselors will be available in the NBTHS Guidance Office from 8-3 pm to provide support.

Your child may have some thoughts and feelings that he/she would like to discuss with you about the loss. You can help your child by listening carefully, accepting his/her feelings and answering questions honestly according to your beliefs.
