Cory Poole of East Orange continued to rewrite the history book when he blasted a 50.72 to take down the meet record and repeat as champion in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles at the 49th NJSIAA Meet of Champions on Saturday at Northern Burlington in Columbus.

The Florida-bound Poole, who just missed his PR and US #1 time of 50.71, shattered the meet record of 51.14 set in 2001 by Dwight Ruff of Camden, and became the fifth boy to ever win two straight IH titles at the M of C.

Poole, who also broke the All Groups record in the 400 hurdles last week when he won Group 4 in 52.20, will return later to defend his HH title as he shoots for the meet record of 13.52. Poole will also be running on the 4x400 in an attempt to become the fourth boy to ever win three golds at the same outdoor M of C.
