A glimpse at what it takes the be the best ever in girls shot put. Throwing sensation Alyssa Wilson was kind enough to let us join one of her practices this season. The featured workout took place the day after her national record throw of 57-01.25 back on May 15th at the Ocean County Championships. Not only that but this was also considered pre-meet practice for a make up dual Donovan Catholic was competing in the following day. 

The Workout

  • Three sets of nine / Benching 100lb + 50lbs of chains
  • A number of speed deadlifts followed by some strengthening
  • Throwing practice focusing on drills and form. 

The end of the video also turns into an interview with Wilson gathering more information on her sporting background, when she started with track and field, her goals moving forward, and more. 

A few of the many accolades this talented senior holds... She has broken both the indoor and outdoor high school national records in the shot put, has multiple national titles, ranks #11 all-time in US high school history for the discus. She will be heading to UCLA to continue her education and athletic career next fall.
