TBT: NFL CB Artie Burns Lays Fire In 110 Hurdles At Bob Hayes Invitational

Before he became a two-sport star at the University of Miami and an indoor All-American hurdler with the Hurricanes track and field program, Artie Burns was destroying competition in the Florida High School Athletic Association.

At the Bob Hayes Invitational in 2012, Burns, then a junior, absolutely smoked his competition in 13.35 seconds, which was nearly seven-tenths faster than his next closest competitor. That time, which stands as the No. 12 best high school performance in the event all-time, ultimately became Burns' career best in high school and finished the year as US No.1.

In 2016, after three seasons with the Hurricanes at cornerback, including a breakout junior season where he led the ACC in interceptions with six, Burns was drafted No. 25 overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He finished his rookie season in 2016-2017 with 65 tackles and three interceptions.
