New Jersey's throwing sensation Alyssa Wilson of Donovan Catholic is picking up steam, throwing US#3 168-0 in the discus and US#1 54-1.5 in the shot put this past weekend at the Eagle Relay Invitational this past weekend. Both performances are state leading marks and can be viewed in the videos above and below courtesy of her father Jamie Wilson.
Alyssa Wilson has led the nation in the shot put since her opening week performance of 52-7.25 at the Rebel Relays where the weather conditions were less than perfect. She has a career best of 175-01 in the discus and 55-9.25 in the outdoor shot put, so far she is well on her way in terms of pace to overcome those performances. This past indoor season she became the national record holder in the shot put with her throw of 57-5.5 at Eastern States Championships, the only girl in US high school history to break the 57 foot barrier.
