Alyssa Wilson Caps Off Historic Shot Put Season With National Title

High school shot put national record holder Alyssa Wilson capped off an undefeated and historic season in the shot put with her first indoor national title on Saturday. She did so with a mark of 54-05.25 on her first throw of finals.

Wilson amassed 16 wins this season, every shot put event she competed in. During that streak she set the indoor national record at Eastern States Championships with a mark of 57-5.5, the only girl in high school history to throw over 57 feet.

Her season isn't done however, as she is scheduled to compete in the weight throw championship on Sunday.

New Jersey's own Danielle Notarfrancesco of Jackson Liberty also earned All-American honors in fourth throwing 47-03.
